Haslemere Travel continues to be recognised as an Investor in People, following a thorough assessment of the business and its success through our people.
Haslemere Travel is one of 30,000 UK business recognised by Investors In People as advancing their organisations’ performance through their people. An organization that has achieved the IIP standard has been successful in adopting and maintaining the three fundamental strategies of Plan, Do & Review.
For Haslemere Travel to continue to be recognized they had to ensure that their staff were offered a structured training and development plan, regular feedback and appraisals, empowerment within their role, and an understanding of the organisation’s objectives. Of those businesses working with IIP, over 80% of their employees have an improved understanding of how they can help their organization meet their business objectives.
A recent report published by the Work Foundation and Institute for Employment Studies delivers the most compelling evidence to date of the link between effective people management and business success. The two year study suggests that organizations with a comprehensive approach to people management perform better than those without, indicated by higher profits per employee, higher profit margins and higher productivity.
Following a re-brand of the business in 2006, Haslemere Travel takes a slightly different approach to other high street travel agents and no longer racks travel brochures in the shop. Whilst brochures are still available to all clients who wish to take them away, their approach is more of a consultative one.
‘We use the vast in-depth knowlege of our well travelled staff to ensure where possible that we can talk to our clients from personal experience, whether it is a country or a specific resort. Our commitment to their continued training and development is substantial as they are our greatest and most valued commodity. Without regular educationals and product and skills training, our business model would not be fully supported and understood.’
Haslemere Travel was first recognized in 2005 and following their three-year review are delighted to retain their recognition.
