Alison

Alison's love for travel comes from growing up in Japan and then working for the Foreign Office where she met her husband, Peter. Alison loves the desert and the sand dunes, which is fortuitous as they had several postings to the Middle East.

Alison's favourite destination is Syria because of its diverse range of history and culture - from the Phoenicians, Greeks and Romans to the early Christians, Crusaders and Arabs. Having all left their mark with temples, souks, churches, mosques and castles, there if far too much to see and do in just one trip!

Alison's WOW travel tale comes from Karnak, Egypt. 'Visitng Karnak first thing in the morning when it is was so quiet that all we could hear were our footsteps, was a truly amazing experience. Soaking up the atmosphere walking through the Great Court into the Great Hypostyle Hall with its 134 columns towering above us was breathtaking and made all that more special by the silence.'

When Alison isn't travelling she enjoys playing tennis, singing in the Haslemere Music Society Choir, cooking and learning to play golf. Most importantly she loves being a grandma to her beautiful grandsons.
