In addition to the above prizes, the 1st place winner from each category will have their work displayed in the Haslemere travel shop.

Entries must be submitted by 31st January 2010. Judging will then take place by a panel of expert professional photographers and the winners will be advised by the end of February 2010.

Submission Details

• Entry is for amateur photographers only.
• With all entries please include the following detail on a separate sheet of paper: Name, Occupation, Telephone number, Email address, address (including post code). If you are entering the Under 12 or 12 to 18 category, please state your date of birth, age, school or college.
• Each entry may consist of up to two photographs in total. These can be across all categories or within select categories (for example 1 shot in People & animals and 1 shot in Landscapes or 2 shots in one category).
• Only one submission per individual. Multiple entries will be disqualified.
• Please submit each shot as a 7”x5” print with a label on the reverse containing the photographer’s name. Please also submit a digital copy, on CD, of the shot in a JPEG format.
• Do not send negatives. These may however be requested at a later date.
• A separate sheet must accompany each entry headed with the entrant’s name, a brief caption for each photo (subject and location).
• Only entries accompanied by an adequately stamped SAE will be returned. All others will be disposed of after judging.

Entry Guidelines

• Each entry must reflect the theme of travel and be suitable for its category as listed above.
• Acceptable formats are: i)Colour or black and white prints from negatives. Ii) Digital images, submitted as prints.
• Minor digital adjustments are allowed, such as contrast, colour, saturation and sharpening work. Composite and multiple exposures are not allowed, nor the adding or removing of subjects into or from the image. Any images deemed to have had major adjustments will be disqualified.

Rules & Restrictions

• All entries must be accompanied by full contact details including an email address.
• Members of Haslemere Travel staff and their families are not eligible to enter.
• Entry is restricted to those with UK addresses.
• Professional photographers are excluded, being defined as any individual whose primary source of income is from the sale of photo, or who gain part or full time employment as a photojournalist.
• The organisers and sponsors take no responsibility for loss, delay or damage to any photo’s submitted. All entries are made at the photographer’s risk.
• All holiday prizes may have specific travel dates applied to them.
• There is no cash alternative available for any of the prizes.
• If holiday prizes are not taken within the travelling period set out by the sponsor then these will be considered null and void.
• Any additional travel costs incurred are the sole responsibility of the winner and must be booked via Haslemere Travel.
• Cases of wine must be collected from the Haslemere Travel office and may not be won by anyone under the age of 18.
• Holiday vouchers may only be redeemed via Haslemere Travel.
• No alternative prizes are available.
• Copyright of entered photographs remains with the photographer in its entirety.
• Closing date – 31st January 2010.
• By entry into the competition you agree to be bound by the full terms and conditions.

TOP TIPS

• The judges would like natural looking pictures, and so anything that looks obviously manipulated will be disqualified at the judges discretion.
• Wildlife photos should ideally be shot in the wild. Images that appear to be shot in captive conditions will not be regarded as highly as those in the wild – unless they actually say something about those captive conditions.
• Please clearly label and caption all entries.
• As well as technical ability, the judges will be looking for originality in all categories – send us something a bit different!
